For bars and breweries

How a first season works

Every bar starts with a first season: 12 weekly nights on Professional, on the weeknight you choose, priced by the teams that play.
Start a season
  1. Pick your night

Tell us the weeknight. We stop by or call to plan it with you, and you save a card or bank account when you sign up.

  2. Your first night is free

Meet the host and watch a night run before you pay anything.

  3. Your season

12 weekly nights with a host, the questions, a music round and standings all season. Each night is charged the day after: $25 for each team on the final standings, never less than $129 or more than $175.

  4. Finals night

Night 12 crowns your champions. Then your season continues month to month on Professional with 30 days' notice, unless you stop it.

After night 12, the season continues month to month on Professional, $1,099 a month, with 30 days' notice, unless you stop it.

What it costs

Every bar starts with a first season priced by the teams that play. After it, keep your night on a monthly program or book a single night. Your written proposal shows the price before anything is booked.

Questions bar owners ask

Ask a question first
How is the first season priced?

$25 for each team on the night's final standings, never less than $129 and never more than $175 a night ($50 more on a Friday or Saturday). Every team on the final standings counts, whether it played on phones or on paper: the host keys paper teams in, and your room screen shows the same standings. The first night is free, so on a weeknight the whole season costs between $1,419 and $1,925. A night you cancel at least 7 days ahead is not charged; with less notice it costs the least a night does.

Can we try one night first?

Yes. The first night of your first season is free, so you meet the host and see a night run before you pay anything. If you would rather book one night on its own, ask for a single night on the form; your written proposal shows its price before anything is booked.

How long is a first season?

12 weekly nights on your night, ending in a finals night on night 12. The season runs all 12 nights, and then the season continues month to month on Professional, $1,099 a month, with 30 days' notice, unless you stop it. On a monthly program, Professional and Signature run seasons with standings and a finals night; Essential can add one.

What happens after the first season?

After night 12, the season continues month to month on Professional, $1,099 a month, with 30 days' notice, unless you stop it. Around night 8 we email your numbers and a one-click choice: stay on Professional, switch to Essential ($799 a month) or stop after the finals night. A program that follows a first season has no new minimum term and no second launch credit. You decide with the season's monthly reports in hand.

What do we get to see after a night?

Professional and Signature venues get a monthly report of nights, teams, players and returning players. It is a count of the night, nothing more.

What do we need at the bar?

We bring the host, the questions and the scoring. You need Wi-Fi and a screen for the leaderboard. Tell us about your sound system if you want a music round.

We have more than one location. Can you do all of them?

Yes. Tell us how many venues and which nights, and we will put them in one proposal.

How long is a typical trivia night?

Essential nights are 90 minutes (4 rounds). Professional is 2 hours (5-6 rounds with a music round). Signature is 2.5 hours with fully custom content.

How do players join?

They scan a QR code and play in their phone's browser. There is nothing to download. Teams can be 1 to 8 players.

What's the difference between tiers?

There are three tiers: Essential, Professional and Signature. A first season runs on Professional. What each includes is listed above, and your written proposal shows the price of a first season, a monthly program or a single night before anything is booked.

What if we need to cancel a night?

Cancel a night at least 7 days ahead and there is no charge, on any plan. With less notice, a single night or a monthly program's night is billed, and a first season's night is charged at the least a night costs, because the host is already booked. If we cancel, or our host does not arrive, a first season's night is not charged and the next night's charge is refunded; a monthly program has that night and the next credited; a single night is refunded with your next night free. A night that weather or a closure stops moves to another date at no charge. The full terms are in your agreement.

Does someone come to the bar?

Yes. A host comes to your bar for every night of the season and runs the game. We need the room, or the part of it where you play, from 30 minutes before the start, with a table and a power outlet.

How do we pay?

A first season is charged night by night: the day after each night, to the card or bank account you save when you sign up, and each invoice names the night's teams. The first night is never charged. A monthly program is billed monthly in advance, and a single night is paid when you book it. The price in your proposal is the total: nothing is added for booking, service or card payments.

Who pays for the prizes?

The bar does, on every tier. If you would rather not shop for them, we can buy and bring the prizes for the cost of the prizes plus $10 a night.

Can we run it ourselves?

Yes. Host it yourself is $99 a month: our questions, the phone game, the room screen and your night on our map, with your own host. It does not include a host, seasons or the monthly report.

We make it happen.

Got a slow Tuesday? Let us make it happen.

Tell us the night and the room. You get a written proposal with the price within one business day.
