Denver has six professional sports teams. The Denver Broncos (NFL football) play at Empower Field at Mile High (76,125 capacity) from September through January. The Denver Nuggets (NBA basketball) and Colorado Avalanche (NHL hockey) share Ball Arena (20,000 capacity) in LoDo. For a first-time visitor, a Colorado Rockies game at Coors Field is arguably the best live sports experience in Denver. Coors Field is a beautiful urban ballpark in the Ballpark neighborhood, tickets are affordable (upper deck under $15), and the atmosphere is relaxed. The Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena are thrilling — the 2023 NBA Champions regularly sell out and the team is consistently competitive. For atmosphere, Broncos games at Mile High are legendary, though tickets are more expensive and harder to get. Avalanche games are great in winter and the team has been consistently excellent since their 2022 Stanley Cup win.

Denver Broncos tickets are sold through Ticketmaster (official) and the Broncos website. The Broncos sell out virtually every home game, so single-game tickets are primarily available on the secondary market through StubHub, SeatGeek, or Vivid Seats. Season ticket packages are also available through the team. Expect to pay premium prices for marquee matchups, especially Broncos vs. Raiders (divisional rivalry) or any nationally televised Thursday/Monday night game. RiNo breweries like Bierstadt Lagerhaus turn into watch party venues for big games. South Broadway bars get lively for any Denver game. Ball Arena's surrounding restaurants fill quickly on Avs/Nuggets nights.
