To sustain her career, McCracken transitioned from writing purely personal essays to practicing rigorous, investigative relationship journalism. In addition to speaking with individuals experiencing limerence, she spent a decade interviewing psychologists, neuroscientists, and somatic therapists to back up her experiences with hard science. This blend of vulnerable storytelling and clinical research allowed her to pitch and publish pieces across distinguished outlets such as the Washington Post and the New York Times.
