Street art is the draw to start with. The RiNo Alley Art Walk is at 1320 27th St G. The alleyways behind Walnut and Larimer Streets host some of Denver's most surprising and intimate mural installations. Walking the alleys between those two streets puts the murals in front of you before any bar or restaurant does.

The Story of RiNo
Railroad Yards & Industrial Warehouses
The land north of downtown became Denver's industrial heart, with railroad spurs, warehouses, and factories defining the landscape for a century.
Decline & Abandonment
As manufacturing moved out, warehouses sat empty. The neighborhood became a forgotten industrial zone with cheap rents attracting artists.
"RiNo" Name Coined
Local artists and developers formally named the area River North Art District (RiNo), sparking a grassroots revitalization movement around art studios.
Craft Beer Revolution
Our Mutual Friend Brewing, Epic Brewing, and others opened along Brighton Blvd, establishing RiNo's identity as Denver's craft beer corridor.
Mission Ballroom Opens
The 4,000-capacity Mission Ballroom transformed RiNo into a world-class concert destination, drawing national touring acts and cementing its cultural status.
The Source & New Development Boom
The Source Hotel, high-rise apartments, and tech offices arrived, balancing RiNo's creative soul with major investment — and debate about gentrification.

The River North Art District, known as RiNo, is a Denver neighborhood with live music, street art, craft beer, food halls and gallery walks, according to Visit Denver. Its recurring art events are the first Friday art walks and the annual Art RiNo Festival. This guide starts with the art, then walks Walnut and Larimer Streets for music, beer and dinner. Hours can change, so confirm with the venue before heading out.
What RiNo Is Known For

Food halls and gallery walks round out Visit Denver's list. The gallery walks are the first Friday events described below.
First Friday Art Walks and the Art RiNo Festival
The RiNo Art District events calendar lists two recurring events. The first Friday art walks are the regular gallery outing. The Art RiNo Festival is the annual one. Anyone searching for RiNo events, the RiNo first Friday art walk or the Art RiNo Festival will find both on that calendar, which is also where current dates are posted.
Live Music and Craft Beer

Live music and craft beer are both stated draws of the neighborhood. Improper City is at 3201 Walnut St #107, and it is the only place on this list with live music. It has outdoor seating and allows dogs. Hours are Mon-Thu 8 a.m.-10 p.m., Fri-Sat 8 a.m.-midnight and Sun 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Its site has more.
Head east along Larimer Street to Odell Brewing Denver at 2945 Larimer St. Fort Collins' brewery brought its dog-friendly culture to RiNo, and it serves beer. It is open Mon-Thu 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Fri-Sat 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sun 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Street parking is free or paid, and the entrance and parking are wheelchair accessible. Odell Brewing Denver and Cart-Driver tie for the highest Google rating on this list, at 4.7 of 5.
Food and Drinks on Larimer Street
Three places sit along Larimer Street. Cart-Driver is at 2500 Larimer St #100. It serves Southern Italian wood-fired pizza, oysters and cocktails, and it also pours beer and wine and serves dess, which no other place on this list does. It is open daily noon-midnight, with happy hour daily 4 p.m.-6 p.m. and outdoor seating.
Work & Class is in the same building as Cart-Driver, at 2500 Larimer St. It serves homestyle Southern and Latin American cuisine plus cocktails, and it is open Tue-Sun 4 p.m.-10 p.m. Happy hour runs Tue-Fri 4 p.m.-6 p.m.
Los Chingones is at 2463 Larimer St. It serves tacos, cocktails and brunch, and it is the only place on this list that serves brunch. It has a patio. Hours are Mon-Thu 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m., Fri-Sat 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sun 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m.
On a Monday, Work & Class is closed, so Cart-Driver, open daily at the same address, is the fallback.
Checking the Current Events Calendar
Dates for the first Friday art walks and the Art RiNo Festival are on the RiNo Art District events calendar. For street art between events, the RiNo Mural Walk and the Denver Mural Map cover the murals.
Updated 2026-10-14: added RiNo venues for live music, beer and Larimer Street dining; removed unsourced figures and dates; sent current dates to the events calendar.
