Denver's best-known walls sit on a handful of streets: Larimer Street and Brighton Boulevard in RiNo, Santa Fe Drive, Welton Street in Five Points, Federal Boulevard in the Northside, and Colfax Avenue. The eight murals below are grouped by street and neighborhood, so each section works as one stop on a route. The Denver Murals Guide has the wider walking routes.
RiNo murals on Larimer Street and Brighton Boulevard
Start on Larimer Street between 35th and 36th, where HENSE's wall is listed in the 303Happenings Denver iconic murals guide. The CRUSH Walls festival brings artists from around the world to RiNo each September, which makes this area the place to see how much new work the district draws.
Detour (Thomas Evans) has a wall on Walnut Street at 32nd. His portrait work combines photorealistic detail with graphic patterning, per the 303Happenings guide and Prevu. The pairing of realism and pattern is the reason to stop here.
Jaime Molina's mural is on Brighton Boulevard. RiNo's Larimer Street corridor hosts some of Denver's most concentrated mural work, according to the 303Happenings blog. That concentration means the three RiNo walls can be taken together before moving to another neighborhood.
Santa Fe Drive and La Alma Chicano murals
Emanuel Martinez's mural is at Santa Fe Drive and 7th Avenue, a location the RiNo Art District and Visit Denver both list. The 303Happenings guide says he has been painting Denver walls since the 1960s, so this stop shows a long body of work rather than a single piece.
Continue along Santa Fe to La Alma/Lincoln Park and the La Alma Chicano murals. The cluster spans multiple buildings around the recreation center, so plan to walk around the block rather than stop at one wall. The Santa Fe murals page covers the corridor's Chicano art heritage, and the Santa Fe Arts District walk adds more painted walls nearby.
Five Points and Northside murals
On Welton Street in Five Points, between 26th and 27th, the Welton Street Jazz Murals document the neighborhood's jazz heritage on their walls, as the 303Happenings guide and Visit Denver describe. A reader interested in the neighborhood's history will find it on the street itself. Five Points street art goes deeper on the jazz-era walls and newer pieces.
The Julio Cesar Chavez mural is in the Northside at Federal and 32nd. Chicano muralism runs deep in Denver's Northside and Westside neighborhoods, per the 303Happenings blog, and this wall is the Northside stop for anyone following that tradition from Santa Fe Drive.
Colfax Avenue mural at Josephine
Pat Milbery's "Love This City" is at Colfax Avenue and Josephine. Prevu and Visit Denver list the location, and the 303Happenings blog calls it one of Denver's most recognized walls. It is the single stop on this list that sits on Colfax rather than in a mural cluster. For the street's wider story, see Colfax Avenue's queer history.
Updated 2026-10-13: regrouped the murals by street and neighborhood; removed unsourced distances, transit directions, counts and the stale entries for Gamma Gallery and the Convention Center; added source links.
