Decline of South Broadway

As suburban strip malls drew commerce away, South Broadway's storefronts emptied. The neighborhood became affordable, attracting counterculture residents and small independent businesses.

A Baker Denver Events Guide starts on South Broadway in Denver, where the stops below run from 3 S Broadway down to 200 S Broadway. The fixed date is First Friday. Music and beer fill the evenings, brunch fills the weekends, and RTD Bus 0 is the transit link.

First Friday on South Broadway

On the first Friday of each month, Baker's galleries and shops open late with art, live music and food trucks, according to the live Baker neighborhood guide. Art, music and food trucks share the same street, so one evening on South Broadway covers all three.

Live Music and Late Nights at Hi-Dive and The Irish Rover

The entrance and restroom are wheelchair accessible.

Hi-Dive: Baker

Sputnik Patio Capitol Hill, at 3 S Broadway, is a vintage-style late-night hangout serving vegetarian- and vegan-friendly eats. Brunch runs Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., per Sputnik.

Punch Bowl Social South Broadway Patio, at 65 Broadway, serves Southern American gastropub fare and punch bowls in a bar and amusement complex with lots of games. At Punch Bowl Social, both free and paid street parking are listed (Punch Bowl Social). Farther south at 200 S Broadway, Urban Prairie has paid street parking and a wheelchair accessible entrance. It is a prairie scene with native grasses, pronghorn antelope and meadowlarks wrapping a corner building, and it is good for children.
