1858
Denver Founded at the Confluence
LoDo sits at the original townsite of Denver City, platted in 1858 at the confluence of Cherry Creek and the South Platte River by General William Larimer Jr.

Denver's Commercial Heart
The arrival of the railroad in 1870 made LoDo a booming hub. Warehouses, wholesalers, and the first department stores packed the district's iconic brick blocks.

Union Station Rebuilt
The current Beaux-Arts Union Station opened in 1914, replacing an 1881 structure. It served as Denver's gateway for generations of travelers.

Urban Decline
As suburbanization drained downtown, LoDo warehouses emptied. The neighborhood fell into disrepair โ cheap rents attracted artists, galleries, and fringe businesses.
