Plan for a week that looked a lot like the same week of 2025 in this Denver traffic crash report. Denver Police logged 381 crashes from Tuesday, October 6 to Monday, October 12, 2026, against 388 from Monday, October 6 to Sunday, October 12, 2025, according to the City and County of Denver open data. That is down 1.8%. Serious-injury crashes stayed level with last year, while crashes with a person on foot and a person on a bicycle both ran above it.
Key takeaways
- Serious-injury crashes numbered 7, the same as the same week last year.
- Crashes involving a person on foot numbered 12.
- Crashes involving a person on a bicycle numbered 8, against 1 the week before.
- Central Park had the most crashes of any neighborhood, with 30.
- The dataset lists 0 crashes with a death for the week.
Citywide crashes fell to the lowest of eight weeks
The week before, September 29 to October 5, had 430 crashes, so this week is down 11.4% on that one. The weekly counts since August 24 ran from 403 to 437 before this week's 381, which makes it the lowest of the eight weeks in the dataset.

| August 24 | 403 |
| August 31 | 435 |
| September 7 | 414 |
| September 14 | 437 |
| September 21 | 410 |
| September 28 | 422 |
| October 5 | 430 |
| October 12 | 381 |

Serious injuries moved the other way from the headline. Crashes with a serious injury were 7 against 9 the week before, down 22.2%, and level with last year.
Crashes with a person on foot were up 20% on the week before and up 9.1% on last year, from 11. Crashes with a person on a bicycle were up 33.3% on last year, from 6.
The week-on-week jump of 700% starts from a base of 1, so it reads as a small count catching up, not a surge. The dataset flags that a person on foot or on a bicycle was involved; it does not say who was at fault.

Lincoln Park and Washington Park jumped while Speer dropped
Central Park led with 30 crashes, up from 28 the week before. Baker came next with 19, down from 27.
Lincoln Park and Montbello each had 18. Lincoln Park climbed from 4, up 350%, and Montbello from 10. Washington Park rose from 3 to 12. Speer went the other way, from 11 to 2, down 81.8%.
These are counts of reports, not rates, so a busier neighborhood will log more crashes. Figure 4 shows the full ranking from the city data.

I25 Hwynb / W 6th Ave leads the twelve-month list by a wide margin
For the twelve months from Monday, October 13, 2025 to Monday, October 12, 2026, I25 Hwynb / W 6th Ave logged 219 crashes. I70 Hwyeb / N Peoria St followed with 109, and N Federal Blvd / W 6th Ave with 95.
A count measures how much traffic a place carries as much as its risk, and a high count at an interchange is a design question, not a driver's failing. The list is not a ranking of danger, per the Denver open data.

Two pedestrian deaths were reported on Sunday
In Montbello, Kano Project reported that Denver Police said a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a parking lot early Sunday and was pronounced dead at a hospital. Officer Kurt Barnes said the person driving remained on the scene.
In the 4600 block of N. Peoria Street, the Denver Gazette reported that a pedestrian died in a crash involving a motorist, according to Denver Police. The department first posted about the crash on X at 2:57 a.m. Sunday, and an update at 10:13 a.m. said the pedestrian had died at a hospital.
Neither report assigns fault. The city dataset, by comparison, lists 0 crashes with a death for the week.
What to watch next week in Lincoln Park and Washington Park
Check whether Lincoln Park's 18 and Washington Park's 12 hold next week, and compare the citywide 381 against the next count. The Denver data tools hold related figures, and the previous edition covered Lincoln Park's earlier move. Next week's count of crashes with a person on a bicycle, 8 this week, shows whether the jump from 1 was a one-week swing.

Methodology
The numbers come from Denver Police traffic crash data in the City and County of Denver open data, pulled 2026-10-14, with data through 2026-10-12. The week covered is October 6 to 12, 2026. The week before is September 29 to October 5, 2026, and the same week last year is October 6 to 12, 2025. The figures are crashes reported to police in a rolling extract, so a crash that was never reported or has not yet been published is not counted. Counts are not adjusted for traffic volume, and the dataset does not say who was at fault.
