[EDITED] I was really unsure about rating this a 2 or 1 star. I'm visiting from out of state and wanted to do dinner at Zeppelin Station before heading to an event. So we accounted for more than enough time to eat at a food hall. AMBIANCE - Zeppelin Station was DEAD on a Saturday evening. Only 3 places were open and the fourth looked like it was operating, but only as a ghost kitchen because they were making food. I was thinking we were going to have plenty time since there weren't a lot of people. Disclaimer, this ambiance review is not reflective of Pesto Italiano, but mentioned due to the long wait time with little people. FOOD - Food was decent. Good at best, being nice. We got what we expected and it wasn't spectacular, and luckily, it wasn't inedible. It was good though, don't get me wrong. SERVICE - This is what really brought it down for me. Considering we (thought) we had plenty time to eat there before we had to leave, we ordered and waited...and waited. We were seeing the same people wait as long as us as well. 45 minutes later, we asked what the status was. The gentleman was giving us the reasoning of them having so many orders. And it's true, they were all hustling and prioritizing MOBILE orders like Doordash and Grubhub. Glad they're still making business, but at that point, they put aside the people who were actually there to dine-in and ordered in-person. Optics-wise, it should've run as a ghost kitchen like the other spot. At 45 min, the gentleman told us they haven't started our order yet. We asked them to just make it to-go. When our order was ready, it wasn't in to-go containers. First guy wasn't apologetic at all. When our 2nd order was ready, at least the lady was super apologetic and explained the situation. I guess the lack of communication and prioritization of in-person dining really dampened our experience here. I'm glad they do well with mobile orders though.
First time here and right off the bat the service wasn’t great. I ordered the spaghetti & meatballs which were decent. The food was a little cold but nothing too bad. My partner ordered the Pesto Penne Burrata and it was not good. The taste was just not there at all. We also had some garlic bread and it was completely drenched and soggy from either how much butter or garlic they put. This wouldn’t have been as of a bad experience but it’s the price that we just can’t justify. We paid $60 for the 3 items. Eat somewhere else if you can. Keep in mind, we were the only customers there. It was really slow.
Pesto was a great meal before a show. It was our first visit and we enjoyed a couple pizzas. The Mexican was delicious and not too hot with the jalapeno slices. The Veggie was an excellent pizza with amazing artichoke hearts. The sauce was wonderful and the crust, perfect. The banana peppers added a zing to both pizzas that was delicious. Definitely want to go back and try a couple more pizzas and then there is a whole, huge pasta menu, too.
A fantastic addition to the Italian food scene in Denver, located in the casual setting of Zeppelin Station. They make their own pasta (the gluten one) and all their own sauces. The pesto sauce is fantastic, the carbonara sauce is amazing, the bolognese sauce is amazing — and then you can also add an entire burrata ball on top of your dish too! Super creamy and decadent. The carbonara is probably my #1 recommendation, with that salty pancetta and runny egg. I also love all their gluten-free options. I’ve tried about 3 different gluten-free pastas here — and they were all good. Yes, they use packaged ones for this, but it’s the only way to prevent cross-contamination in the kitchen. I do appreciate the effort they put into providing excellent pasta dishes for GF peeps like me.
Picky Italian approved! Wow, just wow! Did not expect this from a small restaurant in an incubator space like Zepplin. But pesto really knocks it out of the park! Everything is so fresh and delicious… Even their gluten-free options are delicious! Definitely a must visit if you're in the RiNo Area… Total hidden gem! Definitely get the chicken cutlet and the carbonara… But she really can't go wrong with anything on the menu!
