i met my girlfriend here. the pearl has such a lovely atmosphere. each room has a different vibe. the warehouse has the best parties. the roseroom is more intimate and has fun karaoke nights. i’ve been going here once a month and really cherish having a dedicated queer space
I love the Pearl so much. It's such a beautiful bar with perfect sapphic atmosphere and decor 💖 The food is also really good and they have good vegan options and lots of fun events going on, and the drinks are really creative. I like how they make this space comfortable and accommodating by having a bowl with earplugs available. One thing I will say is that the partner dancing they host here still seems to be a mostly non-lesbian demographic. I don't hold this against them at all since partner dancing is generally even more straight at every other place I've been to, and they do a good job of keeping it inclusive regardless. For example I went on a date with a woman to a west coast swing class and it was not the vibe lol!
Staff here are so so wonderful. The sapphic renaissance was so so fun, I really hope to attend more events like this, but it was way too packed, we could barely do anything. The unmarked stairs upstairs were hard to navigate, I saw a couple people trip throughout the evening. They should have neon yellow strips on them for visually impared people as well. I also unfortunately questioned if one of the vendors was drop shipping products. The drinks tasted very great, but the prices sucked.
This is a bar for lesbians. I'm a cis presenting Male. I didn't feel welcome in this bar. In a club setting, the content of my character didn't matter. I was a threat to their safe space and they made sure I knew that. There were a few people that didn't project their past experiences onto me which I appreciated. My best friendships have been with lesbian women. It just sucks that I don't feel comfortable enough to go back to a place where, in my experience, has been a safe place. But I understand I look like the people they're finding a sanctuary from. It's a great space. Just not a great space for me.
So much to do under one roof! This isn't a 'gay bar'. This is a place that is all inclusive. Where everyone can come together, enjoy great food, listen to some jazz music, watch a show, listen to poetry, and just..be. Regardless of age (well, over 21), sexual orientation, race...it doesn't matter. Especially in today's world. I've never felt so safe in a bar atmosphere. For the record, I'm straight and 55! Found The Pearl by accident and glad I did.
