Denver Venues Guide
Denver has one of America's best venue ecosystems — from Red Rocks (world-class outdoor) to Ball Arena (19K stadium) to Bluebird Theater (555-cap intimate club). Here's everything you need to know about every major Denver venue.
Browse by Venue Type
Arenas
Ball Arena
Home to the Nuggets (NBA) and Avalanche (NHL), Ball Arena also hosts Denver's largest concerts — Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and major touring acts fill this downtown arena. Excellent RTD access via Pepsi Center/Elitch Gardens station.
Highlights
- →Denver Nuggets home court
- →Colorado Avalanche home ice
- →Major touring concerts
- →Steps from RTD light rail
Pro Tip
Avoid driving on game and concert nights — RTD light rail stops directly at the arena. Upper bowl seats for concerts have good sightlines and cheaper prices.
Amphitheaters
Red Rocks Amphitheatre
Arguably the world's best concert venue — natural sandstone formations create perfect acoustics for an outdoor amphitheater carved into the Rockies. Shows run May through October. Book months in advance; popular acts sell out immediately.
Highlights
- →Iconic rock formations create natural sound design
- →Sunset views of Denver are extraordinary
- →RTD concert shuttles from Union Station available
- →Sunrise yoga sessions and film series year-round
Pro Tip
Arrive early for free parking (fill fast). Bring layers — temperatures drop 20°F after sunset. Rain doesn't cancel shows.
Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre
Denver's second outdoor amphitheater handles the overflow from Red Rocks — partially covered structure hosts major touring acts that need more capacity. Summer staple.
Highlights
- →Partially covered — better rain protection than Red Rocks
- →Lawn seating available (BYO chairs/blankets)
- →Suburban location with easier parking
Pro Tip
Reserved seats under the roof are worth the premium. Lawn section gets crowded — arrive early for good lawn spots.
Ballrooms
Mission Ballroom
Denver's premier mid-size indoor venue opened in 2019 and immediately became the city's most sought-after concert hall. AEG-owned, world-class production, outstanding sightlines. Acts who sell out Ogden but aren't ready for Ball Arena play Mission.
Highlights
- →Best sound system of any Denver venue
- →GA standing floor + elevated VIP areas
- →Full bar and craft beer from local breweries
- →Adjacent parking garage
Pro Tip
Balcony standing areas have excellent views of the stage. Arrive at door time for floor — capacity fills quickly for popular shows.
Theaters
The Fillmore Auditorium
Historic theater on Colfax with the legendary Fillmore legacy — poster art adorns the walls, and the balcony offers great views. Part of the AEG family, consistently books touring acts from indie to hip-hop. One of Denver's most storied venues.
Highlights
- →Historic Colfax location, walking distance from Capitol Hill bars
- →Balcony seating + GA floor options
- →Beautiful art deco interior
- →Excellent sound, good sight lines
Pro Tip
Balcony seats sell fast — book early for seated shows. Street parking on Colfax and surrounding streets.
Ogden Theatre
The Ogden is where serious music fans go — artists play here before they headline the Fillmore or Mission. Excellent sightlines even at floor level, great sound, cheap tickets, and on Colfax's best block. Intimate feeling for 1,600 people.
Highlights
- →Best value mid-size venue in Denver
- →Tomorrow's headliners today
- →GA floor + balcony seating
- →Walking distance to Bluebird Theater
Pro Tip
Floor shows can feel crowded for tall people — balcony is worth it. Colfax Ave is walkable to Capitol Hill bars for pre/post-show.
Clubs
Bluebird Theater
Denver's premier small venue — intimate 555-cap theater where you can see future headliners for $15–$25. Excellent acoustics, great stage sightlines even on the floor. Artists who sell out Bluebird typically step up to Ogden within a year.
Highlights
- →Most intimate of Denver's major venues
- →Future headliners at club prices
- →Walking distance to coffee shops and bars
- →Exceptional booking taste
Pro Tip
Floor is general admission — arrive early for front. No bad spots in this venue.
Larimer Lounge
The hippest small venue in Denver — two bars, patio, dance floor, and stage. Larimer Lounge books the most culturally relevant indie, electronic, and hip-hop acts before they break nationally. A perfect late-night RiNo option.
Highlights
- →Outdoor patio
- →Two-stage setup
- →Late nights on weekends
- →Bar food served until midnight
Pro Tip
Shows start later (9–10pm). Great patio for pre-show beers. Capacity is small — sold out shows are genuinely crowded.
Summit Music Hall
Multi-room venue between LoDo and RiNo with three floors and multiple stages — Summit handles mid-size touring acts in a flexible space that can open multiple rooms based on show size.
Highlights
- →Multiple rooms and stages
- →Between LoDo and RiNo — great location
- →Good craft beer selection
- →Range from intimate to 1,100 cap
Pro Tip
Check which room your show is in — the main floor is the largest. Blake Street has great bars for pre-show.
Unique Spaces
Gothic Theatre
South of Denver proper in the Baker/South Broadway corridor, Gothic Theatre has been one of Colorado's best indie rock venues for decades. Art deco architecture, balcony, and intimate floor.
Highlights
- →Art deco interior, beautifully preserved
- →Excellent indie and alternative booking
- →South Broadway's best bar strip nearby
- →Affordable tickets
Pro Tip
South Broadway has great vintage shops and restaurants — make a day of it before the show.
McNichols Civic Center Building
Historic beaux-arts building on Civic Center Park repurposed for events, galas, and special performances. Stunning interior, unique event space for anything from corporate events to art installations and concerts.
Highlights
- →Historic 1909 building with stunning architecture
- →Civic Center location — Denver's most photogenic setting
- →Special event venue for premieres and galas
Pro Tip
Primarily used for private events and special programming — check the events calendar for public shows.
Denver Venue Tips
Buy Tickets Early
Denver's best venues sell out fast — especially Red Rocks. Sign up for venue newsletters for presale codes. Bluebird, Ogden, and Mission Ballroom all have email lists.
Use RTD for Most Venues
RTD light rail reaches Ball Arena directly. Mission Ballroom in RiNo is steps from the 38th & Blake station. The Fillmore and Ogden on Colfax are walkable from Capitol Hill bus stops.
Bring ID for Every Venue
Colorado venues are strict about ID for alcohol purchase. 21+ shows are common at smaller venues. Some shows are all-ages but the bar area requires ID.
Check Venue Policies
Most Denver venues prohibit outside food and professional cameras. Some allow small bags. Red Rocks is generally more lenient with outside items than indoor venues.
