Daniels Park is an incredible viewpoint with some of the most expansive scenery in the area. From the overlook, you can see endless views over the golf courses below and the faint, distant outline of the mountains stretching across the horizon. It’s a peaceful and ideal place for walking, with open trails that let you fully enjoy the quiet and natural surroundings. There are also a few picnic tables where you can sit and take in the view, making it a great spot for a relaxed break in nature. The covered shelter with a fireplace is a nice touch, especially in colder weather, allowing visitors to still enjoy the park year-round. Every season brings a different atmosphere, from bright and open summer skies to calm snowy winter landscapes. Whether for a short walk, a scenic stop, or a quiet picnic, this park offers a refreshing outdoor experience.
My one star is due to the overall closure. 40 years ago I got lost here as a small boy. 27 years ago I came here to sit by the fireplace with my first love (got harassed by DCSD that night). Today you can check out the convenient parking with amazing views of a private golf course and it's bougie clubhouse. "It's for preservation"... Anyone who says this has not watched the sun set on the sleeping indian while anticipating that first kiss.
From what I could tell, no entry fee. Stunning views! Worth the trip.
A most iconic viewpoint in the Denver area, Daniels Park offers panoramic views in all directions. West and East are views of the Rocky Mountain Front Range, including 5 “14ers” (Pikes Peak, Mount Blue Sky, Grays and Torreys Peaks, and Longs Peak North in Rocky Mountain National Park). The Eastern panorama overlooks the high plains. One is surrounded by a bison range (eight bison calves have been born here this spring so far). The Northern view overlooks Denver, appearing like a toy city. Great running/biking/walking trails here connect with a large trail network , much along ridge tops with excellent views. Wildflowers abound. And Kit Carson’s last campfire sight is in this park.
Stop here if you want to see buffalo! You are almost guaranteed to see buffalo because there is a large herd managed by the state of Colorado here, and the area they are kept in is almost completely visible from the road and trail area. The buffalo are on one side of the road and the Rocky Mountains are on the other side (including views of Long's Peak).
