Sloan's Lake
Sloan's LakeDenver's second largest park and its best-kept secret. Kayak rentals, a 2.6-mile lake loop, incredible mountain views, and none of the crowds of City Park.
Mount Falcon Park
MorrisonThe ruins of a never-completed summer home for the President of the United States sit at the top of a beautiful hike 30 minutes from downtown. Zero tourists.
South Platte River Trail
Various35+ miles of riverside trail through Denver. Most people bike the Cherry Creek path; the South Platte is quieter, wilder, and connects more neighborhoods.
Overland Pond Park
OverlandA tiny neighborhood pond hidden in south Denver with migratory birds and no one around. Dog-friendly, serene, and feels miles from the city.

Jerusalem Restaurant
SunnysideFamily-run Palestinian restaurant that's been serving the same incredible hummus, falafel, and lamb dishes for decades. Completely off the Instagram grid, completely excellent.
Tacos El Guero
GlobevilleA trailer in a parking lot serving the best street tacos in Denver. $2 al pastor tacos. Locals only. Cash only. Worth every detour.
Tom's Diner
Curtis ParkOpen 24 hours, serving Denver since 1967. Greek diner food, pancakes at 3am, chrome counters — the most honest restaurant in the city.
Pete's Kitchen
Capitol HillAnother 24-hour Greek-American diner that doubles as Denver's best people-watching. The gyros and pancakes are legendary. Open since 1942.
La Cueva
BarnumOld-school New Mexican restaurant hiding in a west Denver neighborhood. Green chili that changes your life. The locals who know it would rather you didn't.

Williams & Graham
HighlandEnter through a bookcase in a fake bookshop. Behind the door: one of the best cocktail bars in America, consistently ranking in the world's top 50. Worth the wait.
The Green Russell
LoDoHidden downstairs below a butcher shop. Subterranean speakeasy with phenomenal cocktails and an intimate setting that feels like Prohibition-era New York.
Bourbon Grill
LoDoA narrow bar hidden behind a velvet rope in a historic alley. Serious whiskey collection and no sign outside. Look for the gold numbers.
Prohibition Bar
Capitol HillTrue speakeasy — ring a buzzer, give a password, enter through a hidden door. Vintage cocktails, cigars, and the best Caesar salad in Denver.
Death & Co Denver
RiNoAn outpost of the legendary New York craft cocktail bar. Non-descript entrance, world-class drinks, reservation-only — one of Denver's best bar experiences.
Historic & Weird Denver
Cheesman Park Pavilion (Ghost History)
Cheesman ParkCheesman Park was built on top of a 19th-century cemetery. Many bodies were never removed. The park is gorgeous but has one of Denver's most haunted histories.
The Unsinkable Molly Brown House
Capitol HillThe Victorian home of Titanic survivor Margaret Brown. Most tourists rush through; the guided tours go deep into Denver's gilded age history.
Forney Museum of Transportation
RiNoA massive warehouse stuffed with vintage trains, cars, and planes. Almost no one goes — which means you often have the entire collection to yourself.
Colorado Railroad Museum
Golden30 minutes from Denver, the best narrow-gauge railroad museum in America. Ride a restored historic steam train through the foothills.
Elitch Gardens (Original Location)
Potter-HighlandsThe original Elitch Gardens, now a theater, was once Denver's most beloved amusement park. The original carousel house still stands. Look for the old murals.

Museum of Outdoor Arts — Englewood
EnglewoodA sprawling outdoor sculpture garden in a suburban office park. Dozens of major artworks by world-famous sculptors — and practically no one visits.
Kirkland Museum
Capitol HillThe world's most densely packed collection of mid-century furniture and decorative arts, alongside Colorado art. Free on first Fridays.
The Bug Theatre
SunnysideDenver's oldest indie performance space. Experimental theater, avant-garde shows, and a community arts scene totally separate from the mainstream.
Art District on Santa Fe (South End)
Santa FeEveryone knows the northern Santa Fe galleries. Walk 10 more blocks south and find studio spaces, emerging artists, and zero foot traffic.
