The comedy and comedians are great the atmosphere is great the staff is fantastic, drinks are great. Im sure they've heard this complaint - the two item minimum - I get the place has to make money but the drinks are twice the price of a downtown bar and my chicken nachos were just plain gross. Their rule makes a somewhat pricey show just flat out expensive. They could provide better food or chill out on the drink price theyre asking everyone to buy two of. Id also appreciate more of a warning I do not think the 2 item minimum was mentioned until your there for your show
We're a long way from the smoke filled rooms with blown speakers and tiny tables of stand-up's roots. Now there's no smoke (awesome), no tables (not awesome), and no problem hearing the comics (awesome). I know it's hard to make a buck in this business, but just one fewer chair per row section would make a world of difference: You have ZERO personal space. It was just my luck at Stanhope's show that they sat the world's biggest head in front of me.. but it would have been easier to lean around if my shoulders weren't touching the people on both sides of me sitting up straighter than a soldier at boot camp mess. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and light on their feet navigating this sardine can in the dark. I wish they were a little more firm on the STFU and laugh policy. Big Giant Head kept making comments to his buddy throughout the whole show. For reference, I'm 5'11 and average size and there were extended periods where I couldnt see the stage at all from the 6th row. They require you to bag up your devices, which is great - except once you're in, you have no idea what time it is. The crowd typically makes the best of it and gets to know each other before the lights go down. All of that said - I'll be back for locals and upcoming acts. Will probably avoid the comics with bigger draws because it's just not big enough.
I had a great experience! This was my 1st time at the downtown venue. Went to see Andrew Schultz last night. Was easy to park. Easy to find. I got there early, they seated me in the very front row. Overall, an awesome place, with a good atmosphere. The staff was very helpful, friendly, and professional. My bald ass will definitely be back. : )
My partner & I visited Comedy Works for the first time to go see Craig Conant for our 13 year anniversary! We had an absolute blast!! Unfortunately we cannot find information on all the comedians who played that night. We know one of them was Bruce Gray, if someone could kindly let us know who the opener was, we would greatly appreciate the information! We will definitely be back!!
This venue basically guarantees you’ll have a worse time than expected. Great comics, but the WORST venue I’ve ever been to. Firstly, the seats are so small, close together, and uncomfortable that you feel like you’re on an airplane. They pack you in like sardines and sacrifice your experience to maximize their profits. Even if you’re skinny you’ll be bumping elbows with the person next to you. There are seats that never get a good view of the comedian due to columns, and if there is anybody tall in front of you, you’re out of luck for the rest of the show. Secondly, they force you to purchase two items on an insanely overpriced menu (again, feels like an airplane). You are guaranteed to miss at LEAST one joke from the comics, since the waiters constantly go back and forth in front of you, interrupting you, blocking your view, etc. It’s ridiculous. Just add the extra cost to the ticket, it’s plenty worth the extra cost to not be bothered and be able to enjoy the show. To top it all off, you don’t even have anywhere to put your food you’re forced to buy other than your lap. I don’t know how this place hasn’t changed their ways or even made an attempt to make the experience better for their customers. Go anywhere else to see your comedians.
